Introduction to Sweeping

To ensure the maximum effectiveness of any type of TSCM work it is critical that the correct procedure is carried out from the offset.

Contact our team to book a sweep and we will provide clear, friendly advice to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Principle reasons why sweeps are ineffective:

  • Lack of compartmentalization. People who don’t need to know are told about the sweep (‘don’t need to know’ may well include; senior management, executive PA’s, spouses, in-house security, IT staff etc.)
  • The eavesdropper finds out about the scheduled sweep
  • The sweep is discussed in a target area or on a target phone
  • The sweep is posted on a calendar, diary or appointment system
  • Incorrect contractors were informed (IT/Telecoms etc.)
  • Non-professional investigation attempted, potentially alerting eavesdropper and damaging evidence
